God Bless Mentors
March 7, 2025The Team
The worn out old cowboy
Could barely lift his saddle
And it took him some time
To mount up full a'straddle
He missed his younger days
Why, weren't it just a year ago
When he could toss bales all day
And never stop to blow?
He figured God knew a plan
Bringin’ his grandson ‘round
That lad had mule strength,
Bein' big and tall and sound
He knew how to work hard
That strappin' young buckaroo
But he began to work smarter
Learnin’ Grampa’s point of view
Together they make a team
Gramps may not get the job done
But he knows what works or not
So he shares that with his grandson
And that young lad can do
'Near anything once he knows how
So he lifts and grunts for Grampa
Together in the here and now
Wisdom and brawn and love
Which came first to this pair?
Brawn had to be grown into
Wisdom took time to share
But the love, oh the love
Well, soon as that boy was born
Oh that Grampa was right taken
Down to his knees that fateful morn
Grandfather and grandson
Love-glued wisdom and brawn
What a partnership divine
Havin' each other to count on
